Winter Wilderness Escape to the Caribbean? YES. We are traveling to Jamaica in mid February for an XTreme wilderness adventure. Martial arts, white sand, blue water, good music, healthy food, sunshine. $700 including airfare, location / camping, taxi and food - we have all the gear you need for the trip too! Contact ASAP - 3 spots left. Guest instructor grandmaster Brian Adams will be sharing IMA/filipino stick and awesome stuff daily along with Spencer.

1/21/12 - Hanbojutsu seminar at Sean's Kasumi Yama Bujinkan Dojo, west Asheville. The hanbo is a standard tool in taijutsu, 3 feet in length, techniques can be shared between many items including canes, umbrellas, jo staff, handles and even blades. $50, starts at 1pm. Black belt test sometime in the afternoon. 4 delaware terrace, Asheville.
2/4/12 - 'Lady Budo' Mountain Warrior Clinic - Each year we honor our deceased friend and budoka Sarah with a themed class taught by her close friends Spencer, Steve, and Sean. Topics include Spencer's popular Cherokee knife throwing methods. Sean will be training us in traditional Japanese Shuriken techniques. Steve Opper will conclude the session with body integration mechanics and co-ordination exercises with breathing and balance. $75 early registration, $85 at the door. 3/2012 - Hillbilly Blood airs on 3net; co-hosted by Eugene Runkis and Spencer 2 Dogs. Follow us through 6 episodes as we build, fix, hunt, eat, trap, brew, preserve, smoke meats, shoot, track, counter track, scavenge, blow up, trade and barter our way around Cold Mountain.
4/12/12 - Turkey Season Opening Day. LOTSWild's Solo Bowhunting Course gets you in good form for stalking this most elusive and keen sighted bird. Warm up on our course and learn state hunting/conservation laws. Don't want to eat one? Bring a camera and learn ways of the Highland Scouts of southern Appalachia. $55 single day, or $125 double session (gets you into the woods).
October 22nd - Largest living history festival in the U.S. Hart's Square. Spencer 2 Dogs will be presenting Native/Cherokee lore and skills alongside 275 expert re-enactors from 1800's Appalachia. October/November - Solo bowhunting, whitetail guide service and instruction. Begin your session on our 3d course and get out into the field for a live hunt. Use your skills to track, stay warm, navigate, shoot, clean, and preserve - cook - eat your deer. If you are good enough. Dates vary, contact director for small group or individual availability.
December - 'Winter Wilderness Photography'. Learn the fine art of winter survival while taking beautiful photos, sharing warm fires, avoiding people, seeing lots of animals, and not worrying about snakes and spiders. This time of year wolf sighting/hearings are more common in our neck of the woods. Great tracking experience! Contact us for more info.

2012 Camp Dates - All camps $350 per session unless otherwise noted.
SCIII-Xtreme: February. Students scout locations in Jamaica for return and future events. $700 gets you packed, geared up, flown to the island, and driven around with a safe place to do...nothing at all. Or train daily with Spencer, swim in the blue sea, cliff jump, and pull fruit off of trees in the middle of WINTER! Contact us ASAP for information on availability, size limit is 10. Firm.
June 4-8: Scout basic, week 1 (all basic camps cover outdoor fundamentals, Appalachian lore and history, martial arts training, native cultural and language study, first aid, fire building, and many of the classes listed on our activities page)
June 11-15: Scout basic, week 2
June 18-22: Drum Camp - outdoor skills and musical training (rudiments, kit, hand drumming, recording, ensemble, sight reading, composition, history and culture). More info at Drums4Hire.
June 25-29: Ninja Camp, week 1 - a fun and playful look at traditional shinobi arts with lots of wilderness time thrown in.
July 9-14: SCIIa (Advanced), "Sea" SAIL CAMP! Learn water safety, wilderness travel, teamwork and sailing skills all in one awesome place. Only at LOTSWild. I could be talked into making this an SCIII-x, return to the island of Jamaica for a 10 day adventure. Please, twist my arm! Price would change from $350 to $800 to include airfare, taxi fees, food, location, training and classes for 10 days!!!
July 23-28: SCIIb (Advanced), "Land" - why this school got started. Solid training, deep wilderness exploration, pushing the limits, small team dynamics, students are responsible for all self-care regardless of environment. A more quiet camp!
July 30 - August 3: Living Waters Fellowship; Experience faith in a new light, forge a new relationship with Christ as we seek healing, understanding, and peace. Explore the regions most captivating and hidden waterfalls while learning the craft and methods of LOTSWild outdoor classes. Lots of day hikes, famous local river systems and unheard of creeks. Photography emphasis - bring swim gear!
August 6-10: Ninja Camp, week 2 - a fun and playful look at traditional shinobi arts with lots of wilderness time thrown in.

Don't see a date you can do? Want to develop specific skills and take a series of requested classes? Have a few special friends or family members you'd like to share the adventure with? With 3 or more teammates you can co-design a custom event for 1, 3, or 5 days with Spencer and see the mountains like you never have before. Contact us for more information.
PRICING - for courses, clinics, or seminars see class description, above, or contact us. The following fee schedule applies to all camps, family events, custom courses (3 person minimum) at the LOTSWild base camp.
5 day - $350 standard / $550 Premium
3 day - $225 (9am - 5pm last day)
2 day - $175
1 day - $95 (9am - 6pm, lunch included)
1/2 day (2 classes) - $55
1 class (2 hours) - $40
Private lesson - $35/hour (monthly, or bi-monthly attendance preferred)
Here's how the process works; you decide how many days you want, find some folks to join in, and send us the following 1.) dates requested with a back up plan in case we're booked 2.) List of favorite skills/classes in order of preference and any over riding themes or interests. Keep in mind "Backpacking / river trip / unknown trails / hidden waterfalls" all count too.
I will send you back the class schedule, dates, & registration - you approve, mail back registration form with payment and we're off!
